I just posted a pic of my husband and I's wedding picture on my cafemom homepage. If I can figure out how to post it here I will.
Our journey started on Memorial day, 1998. I was dating someone that I was also living with. Things in that relationship were not where they should have been and weren't getting any better. I always felt like I was competing with his brother's girlfriend (I swear he had a thing for her) and we were both going in opposite directions. Well on Memorial Day, 1998, I realized that I had feelings for my then boyfriend's cousin. It was just a slight attraction. We were at an aunt's house for a picnic and I tripped or something playing ball and he asked if I was okay. My heart actually fluttered. I did not take it any further and didn't really think about it much until a few weeks later, when things finally came to a head with the bf and I. I had a few hours to move the majority of my stuff out of his house and back into my parents house. This was not an easy feat but we managed to do it somehow.
I managed to get into contact with the bf's cousin and told him what had happened. He asked for my number and I gave it to him. We started communicating and we managed to fit in our first date on July 4, 1998. We went to Red Lobster for dinner and then to see fireworks. It was wonderful. It had started to rain and he was such a gentleman and gave me his sweatshirt, which I still have. After the fireworks, he took me home and kissed me. Wow, there were even more fireworks then.
Unfortunately, I lived in PA and he lived in OH, a 4 hour drive. We talked almost daily on the phone or emailed. I was able to take a week of vacation later in July and went to visit him. It was a very long drive but well worth it when I got there. We had a wonderful time that week. We went to Cedar Park Amusement Park, Sea World, OH and just hung out together. It was the best week.
We managed to find time to see each other for the next six months. On New Year's Day after the stroke of midnight, Daniel proposed to me. 1998 was a rough year for both of us and we wanted to start the New Year off right. I moved in with him 2 weeks later and planned our wedding and enjoyed our time together.
We were married on July 17, 1999 in a small church ceremony in a small town in PA. We had a small reception afterward and then settled in for a 5 hour car ride to the Cleveland airport so we could catch our plane to Colorado for our honeymoon. We spent a week in Colorado, sightseeing and enjoying ourselves. We went to the Four Corners, rode the cog up to Pike's Peak, went to Cave of the Winds and enjoyed the beautiful mountain scenery. We were even able to play in the snow. We drove into Aspen via what seemed to be a very dangerous pass. It was the best week ever.
After our honeymoon, we settled back in Ohio for 2 months before he switched jobs and we moved to Garfield, New Jersey and our apartment from Hell.
To be continued................
