Spring starts at 8:07pm

Spring is just around the corner and I can't wait. After last week's 8 inches of snow, I'm reading for the thaw and melting of it and spring to start.

At the beginning of last week, the snow was melting from last month and the flowers were starting to come. Thursday morning, I received my first shipment of flowers that I ordered in December and I was so excited. That excitement was short lived though because the meteorologist were forecasting for up to 18 inches of snow to arrive on Friday. Not a good thing for those beautiful flowers that were starting to come up.

Friday arrived with my sister at my door at 3:30 in the morning (she drove to my house after leaving work at 1 in the morning) but at that point it wasn't doing anything but drizzling outside. When we finally crawled out of bed Friday morning at 9 (we were up long before that but wanted to let sis and her bf sleep longer), there was snow on the ground and it was sleeting out. I did look out at the flowers in the backyard that had started to come up during the week and saw a beautiful purple iris blooming. So I quick ran out and got a picture before it was covered in snow and sleet.

After having breakfast, sis and I went to the grocery store to get some stuff for us and the roads were just starting to get a little slick but still drivable. Not long after we got home the sleet changed over to snow and within an hour we had our first inch on the ground and it just seemed to get worse from there. It was a classic Nor'easter. For those who don't live in the North East, Nor'easter are known to bring blizzard conditions and lots of snow. The storm comes from the south with all the moisture from the ocean and moves north and east. Luckily, for us the snow switched back and forth from sleet to snow to sleet to snow frequently throughout the late afternoon hours, which resulted in less snow than what we could have gotten.

Luckily, for me my sister and her boyfriend were nice and helped to shovel the snow, okay they did most of the shoveling while I played with the kids in it.

Saturday, we woke up and did shoveling again and then got ready to go to the outlets in Lancaster for some shopping. It turned into a great weekend and we had lots of fun despite the snow.

Monday was catch up day here and today is catch up day with work later on. You can bet at 8:07 tonight at work, I'll be doing a happy dance because spring will be here. Now to get old man winter to leave and not come back until November. Get mother nature to realize that spring is here and give us those warm temperatures that the flowers love so much.
