I just spent a good chunk of today cleaning up and starting to organize the boys' playroom. I've neglected it since we moved in because I didn't want to put too much work into it knowing that they'd end up with tons of toys for Christmas, plus I still had 3 boxes of toys in the garage to deal with too,
I was going to do this yesterday but I couldn't find any organization furniture I like for it, plus I was really tired and didn't want to do muhc of anything. I did however go through their tons of books and got them on the bookcase in some kind of order, only to have to go back up today and put the one shelf back together since L decided he need to throw them all over the floor. urgh.
While I was up there doing that I got the spurt of energy to start working on the sorting and organizing. I even had the boys lug all their other toys up the stairs. They were groaning til they were done but now most of the toys are upstairs. I did have to make a trip to the big K to get some containers for the toys. I got really lucky and found some good sturdy plastic ones on clearance in blue. We've got to have blue for everything, no wonder I'm not to upset about the pink bathroom ;)
I worked on seperating all the little, annoying toys according to what they go with. That took me quite a bit of time. I love the Little People stuff. It's good quality stuff and the boys like to play with it too, however seperating it all is a pain. They have the farm, zoo, circus, two Noah's arks, the construction zone, and the stable which is new. I like to keep the animals and people seperated since it's easier to play with it and find what they want quicker. I took and seperated them into plastic storage bags and then put those into one container. I also put all their mega blocks into a tote and their legos into another container. The Little People race track is in another one. The large trucks are on the bottom of the closet for now. I want to go get some more wood tomorrow so we can add a few more shelves. The closet has shelves on one side but not the other so I want to add a few. I also need to take my label maker upstairs so I can label everything. That's one of the best things I've ever bought, btw.
I still have some toys that need a home and I forgot to look for some netting to hang up so we can put stuffed animals in it. I'll have to try to remember that tomorrow.
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry after I seperated the food toys. The boys decided they just had to play with the container full of food toys and dumped it all over. Of course they got sidetracked pretty quickly, and I had to repeat myself over and over and over to get them to put the toys back into the container.
Tomorrow's goal is to get those dishes done. The ones I had every intention of doing before I went upstairs. Ooops. Dh will probably throw a fit but at least the toys aren't all over the living room tonight. He won't be tripping all over the place when he comes home in an hour or so.

Hey Jenn, so impressed by how organized you are! I WISH!! I know you will get a handle on everything... you are right, it just takes time! Hope you and your boys have a wonderful new year! Love, Snow
I'm just happy the tree has been taken down before Spring and the living room resembles its preChristmas mess. BTW... I tagged you at my Chaos blog for a fun little Meme!
